About the VET

Visiting a family one day in a village near Bilimora, Gujarat, in 2006, one kind hearted person observed that their son and a daughter could not go to a college for higher studies which they very much wanted to, because the family did not have financial resources to educate them further. They were thus forced to end their education after their 12th standard schooling. The son wound up doing whatever job he got, whereas their daughter was helping her mother in the kitchen and in doing other household chores.

He met a daughter of another family during his short stay in that village, who cried out to him, literally begging him to help her financially so that she can go to a college to become a nurse so that she can help suffering humanity, and not gets married so soon.

These two incidents touched the heart of this person who put forth an idea to a small group of known friends and families to start a fund to help such students to the extent possible. Few other persons joined hands and came forward in support, and thus a Trust came into existence which later came to be known as the Vishwakarma Education Trust, with its humble beginning in Bilimora in 2006. Those few individuals helped whatever they could, but paved a way for those students’ higher education.

The seeds were sown, the enthusiasm grew high, and the humble efforts of few persons brought smile to the students and joy to their families. The momentum picked up year after year. Since its first year of operation in 2006, the VET has seen the students’ population increase to some eight hundred till date, with one hundred and twenty boys and girls receiving the VET scholarships only in 2015 alone. The students earned degrees completing their education in various colleges and in various streams of education, and are happily supporting their families and children’s education today.

The Scholarship Awarded subsection under the Scholarship section of this website provides information of students from various cities in Gujarat, the courses they completed, the degrees they earned and the amount of scholarships they received, from 2006 onwards. The information missing in their application form is left blank in the files in that section. The VET has certainly created a big impact in the quality of life of the families and raised the socio-economic standard and the cultural level of the families, society, the Samaj and the nation as a whole.

The Trust is registered in the State of Gujarat, is a charitable non-profit organization, continuing to do the noble task.
